Answer:  The young seagull was afraid to fly in the beginning in his first flight because he thought that his wings would not support him and he would fall into the vast deep sea.

2. Which mornings aremiserable to tom? Why?

Answer: Monday mornings began another week's slow suffering in the school. So monday mornings were miserable to Tom.

3. Where does the damp stands in "Mild the Mist upon the Hill" ? What is the colour of the mist? 

Answer: The damp stands in the long green grass in "Mild the mist upon the hill". 

∆ The colour of the mist is blue.

4. On which planet did the set up a civilization which is also known as ' raining world' in "All Summer in a Day"?

Answer: They set up a civilization on the planet Venus which is also known as ' raining world' in "All Summer in a Day."

Answer: The man is known to me.

Answer: He asked me what I was doing.

C. Answer to the following questions: (within 40-50 words)

1. How did the bird learn his first flight?

Answer: The seagull was hungry. When he saw his mother coming near him with fish, he got excited and dived straight at the fish, forgetting for a moment that he was afraid of flying. Thus, he got so maddened by the sight of food. With a loud scream he fell outwards and downwards into space. He felt that he was not falling, then he soared gradually. He flapped his wings. Thus he learnt his first flight.

2. Describe the life of the people on the planet venus in All Summer in a Day.

Answer: Planet Venus is covered with thick jungles. The sun comes out only once in seven years and only for an hour. Rest of the time it rains all day. The people set up a civilization there and lived in the underground city. 

3. How was Tom’s loose tooth taken out?

Ans:- Aunt Polly fastened one end of a silk thread to Tom’s loose tooth and the other end to the bed post. Then she took out the tooth by pulling the thread.

4. Describe the cloudy evening in the poem 'mild the mist upon the hill'.

Ans: In the poem "Mild the mist upon the hill" on a evening which was surrounded with cloud after a day of rain and the blue mist had gradually covered the mountains in the horizon. This reminds his childhood days.

5.  What were the young seagull’s brothers and sister doing?

Ans: The young seagull’s two brothers and sister were lying on the plateau dozing with their heads sunk into their necks.

6. Write a letter to a friend of yours inviting him to your birthday party.

7. Write a paragraph on Environmental Pollution.

Answer: 

     ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION

Environment pollution means the pollution of the environment. Everything surrounding us is collectively called environment that we live in. When the carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide exceeds the level of oxygen, pollution occurs. Our natural environment includes air, water, soil, oceans and other living species all are part of the environment. Today this environment is threatened by a number of human activities leading to environmental pollution. Nature has given us pollution free earth now it is affected. The main pollution are air, land, sound and soil pollution etc. So,We need to adopt various measures to minimize environmental pollution.  We can change the situation with public awareness. First of all, people should understand the bad side of pollution. And then need to stop, whatever polluting our environment. Cutting trees should be stopped and need to plan more and more trees to save the green nature. Because it’s the biggest reason and that could change the entire environment. Use of harmful chemicals are to be controlled, plastic and garbage should not be thrown here and there. We have use of non-biodegradable things. Schools, colleges and local clubs should organise programme to creat awareness among the students and local people to save the environment and live with harmony with nature.
